Rita Iglesias GΓ‘ndara, a software engineer from Seville, Spain, has grown an impressive following on TikTok & Instagram with her witty, relatable clips.
She shares more about how she creates content + advice for other creators.
When and how did you get started on social media? "I started making comedy videos on social media in December 2022, combining my background in acting with my tech skills. With my boyfriend Javi's editing skills, we jumped in, doing what we thought was funny — and it turns out, others thought so too. Our goal is to bring some fun to the tech scene, make people laugh, and maybe even help them relax a little from the daily grind."
Are you a full-time creator, or do you have a 'day job' too? "I have a full-time job as a software engineer at a Berlin-based startup called topi, so I create my videos in my spare time. You know, just because I like to keep myself busy. Like, really busy."
What tools do you use to create your work? "Nothing too fancy: for recording, we use a Sony ZV-E1 camera, but we started by filming everything with an iPhone. For lighting, we have the living room equipped with smart lights, and sometimes we also use a ring light. For editing, we use Adobe Premiere and After Effects for effects. And to organize ideas and schedule content, I use Buffer."
What has been your most successful post/video to date, and what do you think made it such a hit? "Well, that's a good question, haha. My most-viewed video, line 68, has almost 6 million views and went viral when nobody was following me, and I still don't understand why. But I think it's crucial to be genuine and have your own unique style when creating any kind of content. If people like it, great, but the most important thing is that you enjoy your work because that passion will shine through.
What is your favorite Buffer feature, and why? "The calendar feature is super useful for me. Since I'm a visual person and post on different platforms with different content, it helps me plan out my posts for the week or month in a straightforward way. This ensures I don't overwhelm or neglect any platform. Also, often I create several videos at once, and this feature helps me distribute them more evenly over time."
