🖊️ Deep dive: 7 Simple Habits to Get Better at Consistent Content Creation |
You can do a lot to increase your chances of success on social media. But, from our research and experience, only one thing comes close: showing up consistently. Kirsti shared seven habits to help you stay on track with your content creation and grow your social media presence. - Capture ideas as they spark: Inspiration can strike at any time. By saving these ideas immediately, either in a notes app or a dedicated content creation tool, you won't have to worry about drawing a blank when creating. Yes, this is your sign to start saving your ideas to your Create space in Buffer.
- Block out time on your calendar: If content creation is important to you, schedule time to do it. Think of it as a meeting with your head of social media (i.e., you). Whether 30 minutes a day or a couple of hours each week, having a consistent routine ensures that content creation becomes a priority rather than an afterthought.
- Create a content 'bank': You're always creating content — whether you're doing it for social media or not. Save everything from the advice you give friends and family to comments on your posts for inspiration to one central space you can revisit when it's time to create.
- Film stock footage: One of Kirsti's favorite habits (and something I've picked up as well) that makes social media content creation miles easier is recording stock footage. Add it to your videos as a b-roll or upload it with some text on the screen for a simple but effective piece of content.
- Batch your content creation: By creating multiple pieces of content in one sitting, you can save yourself (and future you) a lot of time. Play around with workflows — maybe you assign different days to scripting multiple videos, then filming them all, then editing.
- Recycle evergreen content: You don't always need to reinvent the wheel. Much of your content can be repurposed and reposted in new ways. Take older posts, carousels, or videos, and give them new life by updating the visuals, changing the format, or sharing them with a fresh angle.
- Set up automations: Automations can be your best friend when it comes to staying consistent on social media. Many of the tasks above can be accomplished with automations. With platforms like Buffer and Zapier, you can set up systems that effectively remove you from simple admin tasks.
