What Ali Abdaal asked me about memberships

Hey Trendpickw,

A while back, Ali Abdaal (the YouTuber with 6.5 million subscribers) asked me for advice on building his membership.

One of the subjects we talked a lot about was the trade-offs between high-volume, lower-priced memberships and low-volume, higher-priced memberships.

Here's the tl;dr: both are viable strategies. It really depends on which audience YOU want to serve, the type of community YOU want to build, and whether you have the audience (and aspirations) to fit which direction you choose.

A big audience certainly helps just from a pure numbers perspective. But getting people in is different than creating an experience that makes people want to stay. Whether you're building for scale or not, the skill of building a place people want to STAY is one I'm teaching at the Membership Summit—three days, live, free.

And if you think your audience is too small for this—you may be wrong. You really only need five members to start building from, and Day 1 is where we talk through exactly that.

We start Tuesday! Three full days of teaching, answering your questions, and we'll even do some live audits on Thursday. Every session is recorded and available for 48 hours afterward, but you have to register to get access.
