On Thursday, we're reopening the doors to The Lab. And it's a great month to join because we're kicking off a sprint to help our members plan and execute a Black Friday campaign!
I ignored Black Friday for a long time. I thought it was more for ecommerce than for content creators like us, but I was wrong. I ran my first campaign in 2024, and it was not only our best month of revenue for the year, but also our best month of revenue ever up to that point.
We want to help our members have the same experience. We accept 10 new members per month from our waitlist—so if you're not on it already, join the waitlist here!

How Does A $10M Education Business ACTUALLY Work?
Want to see behind the scenes of a $10M online course business? Olly Richards has written a 118-page case study about how he did it.
Discover Your Signature Product: Turn Your Expertise Into a Product People Will Pay For
You know you have something valuable to teach.
The harder question to answer is: What should you actually build and sell?
Creating a successful product isn’t just about packaging up everything you know—there are important choices to be made. The strongest offers sit at the intersection of your expertise, what your audience actually wants, and the transformation you’re uniquely positioned to help them achieve.
I’ve built multiple successful products around my expertise, including my membership, The Lab. The Lab is my signature product, generating nearly $500,000 per year. Beyond that, I’ve sold self-paced courses and cohort-based courses, with our recent live course launch earning $101,666.
On September 29, I’m partnering with Circle to teach a live masterclass breaking down how I think about turning YOUR expertise into signature products people are willing to pay for. That includes how to decide what to build, how to package the transformation, and how to choose the right delivery model.
You’ll explore the different ways your signature product could come to life, from memberships and communities to cohorts, coaching programs, live courses, and hybrid experiences.
Then we’ll move from strategy into execution.
I’ll be joined by Alexis Teichmiller, and we’ll use Circle AI to take a signature product idea and begin building the actual customer experience, showing you how quickly you can move from:
“I think I want to create this” → “I’m actually building it.”
You’ll leave with greater clarity around what to sell, how to deliver it, and how to start turning your expertise into a real product people will pay for.
Best of all, the workshop is totally free (we’re even providing some bonuses).
When I went on paternity leave two years ago, I created a series called Ask Creator Science. I asked for your questions and answered them via our newsletter and podcast. Those Q&A episodes are some of our most popular on the feed!
It was so great, but then I stopped doing it. Why? That's a great question—sometimes I just move on from things too quickly!
So I want to bring it back. And now that I'm a month away from my second paternity leave, it feels like there's no better time than the present.
Send me your questions! It can be a specific situation you're in, a decision you're stuck on, or something about our business here at Creator Science. Nothing is off limits, and if you think it's a question I wouldn't want to answer, that's an even better reason to ask.
You can submit your questions anonymously or for attribution.
I appreciate it! When I'm running on two hours of sleep and can't think of something to write about, this gives me a great starting point.
JOB OPPORTUNITY 💼
We're hiring a video editor!
Our channel broke 145,000 subscribers this week! It's still hard to believe my largest channel is YouTube. If I'm honest, we've been a little quiet on the channel for the last year while we built out (fixed) different aspects of the business. I've been in the producer chair for the channel, and I'm not doing a very good job!
So we're making some changes! We're committed to publishing more consistently, and we're looking for an editor. Actually, we're looking for more than an editor—we're looking for someone with editing talent and producer aspirations. Someone hungry to prove themselves as part of our growing team.
When we start working with someone, we tend to work with them long term. And working with us tends to open up bigger opportunities for you down the road too.
So whether you're looking for something stable or a stepping stone to bigger and better opportunities, I think you'll enjoy your time working with us.
#319: How Tamara Grominsky Predictably Grows Her Membership Each Month
My guest is TamaraGrominsky, founder of PMM Camp — a private, application-only membership for senior product marketing leaders with 280+ members.
Tamara spent 15 years in product marketing, eventually landing at Kajabi as VP of Product Marketing. She went there with a specific agenda: study how the best creators build their businesses, then reverse engineer it for herself. She started a newsletter, surveyed her audience, learned the thing they needed most was connection, and launched a membership in March 2023. Six months later, she left Kajabi. Her model isn't always-open or quarterly-launch. It's application-gated, opens for exactly five days on the first of every month, and runs on Kit workflows and Circle. She's been on this monthly cadence for nine months and now forecasts her revenue 12 months in advance. She's hit every number this year.
Tamara is also in our Lab mastermind, which means I've watched this system get built in real time. This conversation is nine months of mastermind updates compressed into a podcast episode.
In this episode, we talk about:
How she went from VP of Product Marketing at Kajabi to building her own membership — and why leaving a job she loved was still the right call
The monthly open cart model: application-gated, waitlist-driven, four emails, five days, and why it turned a chaotic launch calendar into a predictable business
What a personalized onboarding document looks like, and how she gets 90%+ of new members onto a welcome call
Her hypothesis about why her conversion rate is stuck at 30% — and what she's testing next
By the end of this episode, you will have a complete model for running a membership like a product — with systems, baselines, and experiments that make revenue forecastable.
